Goldendale Observatory

The Goldendale Observatory is one of the most accessible public observatories in the U.S. - home to one of the world’s largest public telescopes. This project, in partnership with Washington State Parks and Recreation, refreshed the interior of the observatory with all new exhibits. In my role as Production Artist I worked to create all of the layouts shown below using style guides designed by senior designers. Once the design phase was complete, I worked to make all artwork production-ready for vendors to print.

This series of panels describe the types of planets and other minor bodies found in our solar system.

A rounded countertop graphic tells the origin story of Goldendale observatory.

These graphics were printed on a transparent material and used in outdoor lightbox displays. They show the development of the observatory over the decades.

The semi-circle graphic panels below were designed to be mounted to a round metal reader rail structure allowing viewers to read from multiple positions.

From the Goldendale Observatory one can view all of the surrounding volcanic mountains and lava flows. I designed this graphic to give the viewer context and orientation within this volcanic landscape.
